Pressure Ulcer / Wound Healing

Pressure Ulcer / Wound Healing Overview

  • Pressure ulcers are localized injuries to the skin and/ or underlying tissue that usually occur over a bony prominence as a result of pressure. Prevalence of pressure ulcer cases are increasing dramatically due to the aging population, and there are no readily available therapeutic treatment options.
  • The wound is classified into details according to the cause of the injury, but is commonly referred to as a wound in which the continuity of the normal structure of the skin tissue has been destroyed. The re-epithelialization process is essential for the healing of the wound, and the movement of the keratinocyte is considered to play an important role.
